Community Garden
We secured funding to establish a Community Garden in April 2021.
It is overwhelming how the community came together to help establish and build the raised beds within a short time especially during the pandemic.
We have grown various vegetables, tomatoes, planted hanging baskets, held small events and most importantly, we welcomed many visitors/ groups to our Community Garden where they were able to socialise, learn new skills and volunteer.
We are planning various work shops and events again for this year and if you would like to help in any way, then please contact us by clicking here Contact Us Page
How to help
If you would like to help and you are interested in getting involved simply pop into the Community Garden for an informal chat and a cup of tea. We are open Monday to Friday from 10am- 2.30pm unless otherwise notified on our facebook page click here
Donations
Donations can take any form, they can be money ( money is always welcome!) but in particular, for the Community Garden your donation could be a packet of biscuits, some cupcakes, seeds, or plants or you can donate your time to help with planting or helping to maintain the garden. Donations are whatever works for you and are a great way to be involved in your community and in helping others. If you wish to make a donation please either pop into the garden or email us.
The Community Garden was awarded £3000 in funding from ARIA (Ayrshire Rural and Islands Ambition).
This money has been used towards improving the hospitality of the community garden space.
We have bought heaters and lighting to extend the hours the garden room can be open and overall make it a more comfortable space. We have also purchased a fridge and a 5 Litre kettle so drop in for endless teas and coffees. IPads are available to be used by any of our visitors and it will enable us to showcase our journey of the development of the garden through pictures and videos.
We would like to say a big Thank You to ARIA for the chance to make this all possible.
